STONEBRIDGE SCHOOL ANNOUNCES STUDENT ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Four seniors at StoneBridge School on Jolliff Road in Chesapeake have recently been recognized for their sports achievements.

 

Wes Carroll Places 5th at VISAA Cross Country Championships

 

Senior Wes Carroll, a StoneBridge basketball player, decided to go out for the cross-country team for some pre-conditioning for the basketball season. In his first practice ever running with the team he beat everyone on the team. After 8 days of training, he entered his first cross country-meet and beat 120 boys to win the race. Wes concluded his season on November 7, 2008, at the VISSA Cross Country State Championships at Woodberry Forrest and placed 5th in the boys Division 2, yet his time ranked him 14th in the state including all divisions. This is one of the highest rankings any StoneBridge runner has ever accomplished.

 

 

Anna Curfman Invited by JMU to Play Soccer

 

Senior Anna Curfman has committed to play soccer at James Madison University starting in the spring of 2010. Anna started playing soccer at 7-years-old in city recreation leagues, then from 11-14 years of age progressed to the Churchland Advanced & Select teams. From 7th grade to the present, she has been playing at StoneBridge in addition to her club team, Beach FC, and the state Olympic Development team. Anna will be the first female StoneBridge student to play collegiate soccer at this level in our school’s history.

 

 

Brian Palmer Receives Scholarship Dollars

 

Senior Brian Palmer has just received word that he will be receiving a $28,000 merit-based Dean’s Scholarship at Adrian College, a co-ed liberal arts college in Adrian, Michigan, if he chooses to attend.

 

 

Sarah Tabb Signs with Radford University

 

Senior Sarah Tabb recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Radford University, a NCAA Division I level school. Sarah has been a student at StoneBridge since K5 and began playing basketball in 5th grade for StoneBridge. She climbed the ladder of basketball levels at StoneBridge and is the first girl to sign with a Division I school.
