American Helicopter Society, Inc.

Who:           Seniors with the desire to pursue a career in engineering or related technical fields such as physics, mathematics, or computer science

Amount:     $2,000

2010 Bill Jesse Memorial Scholarship

Who:           Graduating senior residing in the City of Suffolk, County of Isle of Wight, or James City County AND acceptance in the school of Engineering, Construction or Architecture at any Virginia College or University

Amount:     $1,500 with the opportunity for annual renewal

2010 Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Scholarship

Who:           Seniors with at least a 3.2 GPA and an athlete during the 09-10

school year

Amount:     $7,500 scholarship

Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program

Who:           Students ages 13 -18 who have volunteered to help make their communities a better place (volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year)

Amount:     Store-level winners: $50 Kohl’s Gift Card; Regional winners: $1,000 scholarship; National winners: $10,000 scholarship & Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each winner’s behalf

The Thomas & Evon Cooper International Competition – Piano 2010

Who:           Musicians ages 13 to 18

Amount:     $10,000 first prize; Concerto round performance with the Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall

CHKD 2010 Junior Summer Program NEW!

Who:           Students must be 14 by December 31, 2009

What:         Volunteer at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters; two 3-week sessions and one 2-week session; morning and afternoon shifts available – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

When:         Session 1: Monday, June 21-July 9; Session 2: Monday, July 12-July 30; Session 3: Monday, August 2-August 13

Hillsdale College Summer Science Camps NEW!

Who:           High school sophomores, juniors, seniors

What:                   Molecular biology, Chemistry/physics, or matematics

Hillsdale Study Abroad Program NEW!

What:         Hillsdale College is offering three study-abroad trips for high school juniors and seniors in the summer of 2010.  Gain in-depth knowledge about history’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare; examine Winston Churchill’s indomitable spirit that helped propel victory in World War II; or explore the roots of Western Civilization from Ancient Rome to Renaissance Italy.

Pratt Summer 2010 Pre-College Program NEW!

Who:           high school students who are at least 16 years old, and have completed their sophomore year, as well as graduating seniors (minimum age: 16 years by June 30, 2010; maximum age: 18 years)

What:         An opportunity to experience college-level study in Pratt Institute’s PreCollege program of art, design, architecture, creative writing, or critical and visual studies.

When:         Tuesday, July 6 – Friday, July 30, 2010

Where:       Manhattan Campus or Brooklyn Campus

Cost:           $2,620 for four credits; $35 application fee; $400 deposit applied to tuition; $250 student administration fee; $770 housing; $660 meal plan; Scholarships are available

Worldview AcademyA week-long leadership camp designed to help teens understand the ideas in the world and confront them and begin to influence their world for Christ.
