When Mariana Stölzel arrived from Germany to spend a full year at StoneBridge School, she expected to experience a different culture, a new school, and a different educational system. What she did not expect was that God would use that year to transform her understanding of her Christian faith and deepen her relationship with Him.
“StoneBridge is probably the best thing that happened to me during my exchange year,” Mariana reflected. “Before coming to StoneBridge, I always felt that there had to be something more. StoneBridge became the place where I found answers to many of the questions I had.”
Like many international students, Mariana faced the challenge of adapting to a new country, language, and school environment. Yet from her very first days on campus, she found something unexpected.

“The most memorable part of my experience at StoneBridge was definitely the school community,” she said. “Everyone knows each other, which makes it much easier to be new. From the beginning, people were very welcoming and interested in getting to know me, which helped me feel included very quickly.”
That welcoming community became the foundation for something much deeper. Having attended public school in Germany, Mariana noticed that StoneBridge was different, not simply because of its academics, but because of its distinctly Christian culture.
“What I loved most was the spiritual aspect of StoneBridge,” she said. “I think when people have been at the school for a long time, it’s easy to overlook that aspect. But it truly changes the atmosphere of the school and the way people treat one another. Instead of only being focused on good grades, students are also encouraged to grow in their faith and character.”
As the months passed, classroom learning extended far beyond academics. Teachers invested in students personally, friendships became meaningful, and conversations about life pointed her toward Christ.
“StoneBridge has really good teachers who are not only interested in students’ academic success but also genuinely care about them as people,” she said. “They listen, support students through personal challenges, and build real relationships with them.”
Those relationships had an eternal impact. Thursday chapel also became a weekly highlight.
“Conversations with friends and teachers helped me understand why I believe what I believe and showed me how constant God is during difficult times,” she said. “Thursdays were always my favorite days because of chapel. Singing the worship songs together in the beginning always touched my heart and encouraged my spiritual growth. I especially liked hearing different speakers each week because every message brought a new and different perspective and kept chapel engaging and meaningful.”

Looking back on the year, Mariana expressed how she saw God’s hand woven throughout every part of her experience. She believes those experiences would have been difficult to find anywhere else.
“Through Bible classes, chapel, conversations with teachers and friendships, I was able to grow in both my faith and, even more importantly, in my understanding of Christianity,” she said. “I do not think I would have built such close friendships or become as strong in my faith if I had attended a different school.”
Mariana returned home to Germany carrying much more than memories of an exchange year. She left with lifelong friendships, a deeper understanding of God’s truth, and confidence that He has been faithfully at work throughout her journey.
“StoneBridge impacted my life in ways that will stay with me long after my exchange year is over.”
Mariana’s story is a reminder that an education at StoneBridge is about far more than academics. Through daily discipleship, meaningful relationships, and a community centered on Christ, she grew not only in her understanding of Christianity but also in her relationship with God.
That kind of character formation and spiritual growth is the lasting work of a Biblically centered education, one that carries an eternal impact.
