Spring Sports 2023 Highlights

StoneBridge Athletics enjoyed another strong sports season this spring to bring the year to a close. Each team exemplified the core character qualities promoted through our SBS Athletics program, topping it off with victories at the Metro and VISAA State tournaments. We’re proud of all our teams and student athletes and their accomplishments this season. Hats off to all our athletes on Track and Field, Girls Soccer, Golf and JJV Baseball teams!

Read below for the season’s highlights for each team. You can view more pictures from this season on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

💥 Eve Frost finished 2nd in the 3200m.

GIRLS SOCCER
Girls’ Varsity Soccer
finished the regular season tied for 1st place in the Metro Conference with Atlantic Shores and earned Metro Co-Champions after a hard fought loss against Atlantic Shores, 2-1.

The All-Metro Conference Players: ⭐️Claire Albritton, ⭐️Sarah Busby, ⭐️Lucy Nunziata, ⭐️Makaylah Telfer, and ⭐️Elise Thomason.

The Girls’ Soccer team finished the regular season ranked 4th in VISAA Division 3 which earned them a home quarterfinal game. The team battled valiantly in the VISAA Quarterfinal, falling just short with a 2-1 final. The girls played well as a team and with much determination throughout the season.

Girls’ JJV Soccer completed their season looking strong. The young talented athletes hold promise for continued success for the Girls’ Soccer program. This team played tremendously well as a team and shows knowledge of the game beyond their peers. Coach Brooke Thompson, SBS Class of 2022, has led these girls with excellence and they have responded well.

BASEBALL
The SBS Cavaliers Baseball team finished their season with a .500 record in a 25-4 win at St. Patrick’s. It has been a major positive for the boys, their families, and the community to have baseball back in action at StoneBridge. The players have come together as “StoneBridge Baseball” and enjoyed playing together. Young players, even some without any experience, have grown not just in skill but as image-bearers of God. Coach Cal Woolard has been a positive influence on the team and an ambassador for the school.

GOLF
The Golf team finished as the Metro Conference Runner-Up as a team and placed three golfers on the All-Metro Conference Team: ⭐️Clay Topping, ⭐️ Kade Walton and ⭐️Garrett Maye. StoneBridge hosted the Metro Conference Golf Tournament at Sleepy Hole this year. Coach Andrew Riddick was instrumental in ensuring that the tournament was a success and was enjoyed by the whole conference.
