Many Christian students just out of high school may find themselves trying to navigate the challenges of living out their faith in a secular world. Fortunately for many students like Chris Kostrzewa, SBS Class of 2017, StoneBridge taught him how to face these challenges with confidence and compassion.
The statistics are overwhelming that growing up in a household without a father many times leads to a child’s negative well-being and life adversity. Undoubtedly, our society understands the incredible negative impact of an absent father, but what is more difficult to recognize is the immediate and long-term effects on an otherwise available, yet uninvolved father.Â
True thankfulness invokes a change in attitude, a posture of gratitude, and a true realization of what has been done for you. One of the special things about playing volleyball at my school is that my dad is the coach. I have always been vaguely aware of the sacrifices he makes to coach the team, but it was not until this year when I realized how truly grateful I am for the impact he has had on me.

SBS parent and licensed professional counselor Jenny Hornby and SBS Alumna Madeleine (Maye) Murphy are getting ready to release their first children’s book together, Made for This, in June June. Last Fall, Lower School students enthusiastically embraced little Ozzie and how he worked through his fears as Mrs. Hornby read the book draft and showed Mrs. Murphy’s illustrations during chapel.
